Shift is an accredited social enterprise started by entrepreneur
Don Ritzen.
Shift was founded on the knowledge that if we really want to meet the Paris climate target, we need to look beyond energy transition.
The average CO2 footprint of a Dutch person is currently 3.5x higher than the Paris targets, so we all have an important role to play to create a more livable world.
The IPCC report from 2022 shows that individual behavior change can contribute to a carbon reduction of 40% to 70%, which is essential to meet the Paris climate goals. This highlights how big an impact our daily choices can have.
Sustainable living starts with small steps. At Shift, we know from experience that knowledge, inspiration and a nudge in the right direction make a big difference.
In our three-month programs, we saw participants reduce their carbon emissions by an average of 20%. And even up to 25% six months after their participation.
We incorporated all the lessons from these programs into the development of the Shift app. We know what works, where people get stuck, and how to make sustainability fun and achievable.
