Action

Avoid short car rides
Half of all car journeys are shorter than 7.5 km and are particularly polluting. Choose walking or cycling and reduce CO₂, congestion, and noise pollution.
Description
What we find interesting:
About half of all car journeys are shorter than 7.5 km. Because these short journeys require more frequent braking, acceleration, and gear shifting, they are also relatively more polluting than long-distance journeys.
Short journeys are inefficient for cars because more fuel is used in the first few kilometers, resulting in higher CO₂ emissions. Moreover, using cars for short distances creates increased traffic congestion and noise pollution in residential areas.
