Choose plant-based butter and cheese
Most milk in the EU goes to cheese and butter, not to drinking. These products therefore have a greater climate impact than milk itself.
Description
What we find interesting:
In the EU, the majority of milk, 37.7%, is used for cheese production. This is followed by butter (29.4%), cream (11.9%), and milk that we drink (11%). This shows that dairy products like cheese and butter play a much larger role in milk consumption than milk that is consumed directly. Therefore, the climate impact of cheese and butter is significantly higher than that of milk that we drink.
