Make your own seed bombs
Seed bombs are small balls full of flower seeds that you can easily spread – good for bees, butterflies and a splash of color in the city.
Description
What we find interesting:
Flowering plants are a food source for bees, butterflies, and other insects. But in many cities, there's too little greenery, and therefore too little nectar. Homemade seed bombs are a fun way to change that. Throw them on bare patches of land and let nature do the rest.

3 more reasons to make seed bombs:
- More flowers means more bees and butterflies: You help important pollinators find food and habitat.
- Easy and fun to do: Making your own seed bombs is simple – also fun with children or friends.
- You brighten up paved areas: Think of bare roadsides, bits of vacant land, or your own front garden.
Steps
- 1Use organic flower seeds from native species such as cornflower, poppy or wild marjoram.
- 2Mix them with clay powder and potting soil, and roll them into small balls (about the size of a walnut).
- 3Let them dry for a day, then throw them somewhere where they will get rain and sun.
- 4Avoid areas where there is already a lot of vegetation, as this will reduce the chance of seeds germinating.
- 5Don't throw in protected nature reserves or private property; choose your own garden, facade, or vacant part of town instead.
