BuurtBuik collects food that would otherwise be thrown away from supermarkets, greengrocers, and restaurants. Volunteers cook with them and prepare free, healthy meals that everyone can enjoy. There are several locations in Amsterdam.
Why do we like it? Because BuurtBuik shows that you can do more with rescued food than just prevent waste. By cooking and eating together, it creates a place where people from the neighborhood get to know each other.
