Together, we permanently remove CO₂ from the air
Description
Alongside reducing emissions, we also need to remove CO₂ from the atmosphere
Climate policy starts with reducing our emissions; otherwise, it’s like mopping the floor while the tap is still running. Everyone has a personal responsibility in this. At the same time, even if global emissions decline, the concentration of CO₂ in the atmosphere will continue to rise. In addition, during the transition, we will remain dependent on fossil-based products for which there are no good alternatives yet. We need to compensate for at least these (residual) emissions with high-quality CO₂ removal technologies and credits.
CO₂ removal was long seen as an endgame solution for residual emissions, but we can no longer afford to wait. We need to build a mature CO₂ removal market now, as a complement to reducing emissions. By investing in it today, we help these technologies grow, improve and innovate.
