Linux Repair Café – Install a free operating system on your old laptop with experts
During the Linux Repair Café, you'll learn what Linux software is all about. Volunteers will help you install a lightweight Linux operating system step by step. You can bring your own laptop or practice on one of the available computers. You'll discover how easy and safe it is to work with Linux, without license fees, with less e-waste, and more control over your digital life.
Why do we like it? Because Linux offers many advantages. You become less dependent on software like Microsoft's and save millions of kilos of e-waste. Microsoft will stop supporting Windows 10 in October, while many older computers are not suitable for the upgrade to Windows 11. As a result, approximately 240 million devices worldwide are at risk of becoming waste. This is unnecessary, because with Linux, a free, open-source operating system, these devices remain usable. Yet many people are still hesitant to switch, even though Linux allows you to browse the internet, use email, and edit documents perfectly. The Linux Repair Café helps people make that transition easily.
