Transvaal Community Gardens Association - Green Paradise in the Heart of Amsterdam The community garden on Afrikanerplein has existed since 2008 and is supported by the Transvaal Community Gardens Association. It is a green space in Amsterdam-East where peace, friendship, and connection with nature are central. Everyone is welcome to participate, whether you want to actively garden, catch up with neighbors, or simply enjoy the tranquility. The garden is freely accessible, but picking is not permitted unless members have shared something in the special sharing box. Every third Sunday of the month (except holidays) there is a garden day with coffee, tea, and homemade soup. Members and visitors work together to maintain the garden, share knowledge, and celebrate the season.



Why do we like it? Because this garden was created by local residents themselves and has been maintained together for years. It's a place where you can feel the care and commitment, with garden days, soup, seasonal parties, and spaces for socializing. Whether you come to help out, learn something, or simply enjoy the peace and quiet.
