Bread from the Lutkemeerpolder
Description
On Sunday, 1 November, at 1:00 pm, the Lutkemeerommetje takes on a special theme: bread from the Lutkemeerpolder.
We’ll start with a guided tour of part of the polder, led by Iris Poels, a guide and Amsterdam’s climate mayor. This time, we’ll also tell you about the grain grown here. Miller Roel Gremmer grows grain in the Lutkemeerpolder and then bakes his own bread from it. This gives you a chance to see exactly where our bread comes from: from the fertile clay soil of Amsterdam to grain and, finally, a fresh loaf of bread.
This time, we won’t just be looking and listening — we’ll be baking bread ourselves! Bakery De Eenvoud will join us and introduce us to the world of bread, flour and dough. We’ll get hands-on together, and of course there will be an opportunity to taste the results.
