Description

Foodpark Amsterdam is taking part in the Film Food Fest again this year. On Sunday 15 November at 5.00 pm, we will be screening the documentary Eat More Trees at Cinema De Vlugt. What if the future of our food literally grows on trees? From the Amazon rainforest to Europe and the United States: Eat More Trees follows pioneers who demonstrate how agriculture and nature can work together. By combining trees, shrubs and food crops, they are restoring the soil, enhancing biodiversity and producing nutritious food. What does this have to do with Voedselpark Amsterdam? In the Nieuw-West district, in the Lutkemeerpolder, we are working towards a future in which fertile land is used to grow food, keep the soil healthy and provide space for nature. Agriculture need not be at odds with nature; on the contrary, it can actually enhance it. The film shows how agroforestry and regenerative agriculture can contribute to this. These inspiring examples also make us reflect on the future of Amsterdam’s last remaining fertile marine clay soil. Afterwards, there will be a discussion with Sylvia Avontuur and time for questions. Sylvia Avontuur is an entrepreneur involved with Voedselpark Amsterdam and designs food forests. How can we build a healthy and resilient food system in Amsterdam? This afternoon event is organised by Iris Poels on behalf of Voedselpark Amsterdam. Tickets: 13 standard | 9.50 concessions (students, over-65s, CJP) | 8 children (aged 2–6) | 7.50 Stadspas | 2 Stadspas promotion | Free with Cineville.
