Lutkemeerommetje – The protein transition and local food production in the Lutkemeerpolder

The Lutkemeerpolder, with its fertile clay soil close to the city, offers a unique opportunity to strengthen short, regional food supply chains and bring food production closer to the city once again. Projects tackling food waste are important, but it is just as important to look at the other end of the process: how and where our food is produced. The walk is a short stroll of about 2 km through the Lutkemeerpolder and across the fields of De Boterbloem, with plenty of information along the way. We’ll showcase various urban farming projects and talk about the plans for a food hub. Sunday 2 August 2026, starting at 1.00 pm, meet at De Boterbloem Farm, Lutkemeerweg 262B, Amsterdam. Suitable for everyone aged 10 and over; free to join; maximum of 20 participants; lasts approximately 2 hours. Please come by bike if possible and wear sturdy shoes. Every first Sunday of the month, we organise these educational walks, led by a guide, across the fields and through the apple orchard at De Boterbloem Farm. You’ll learn about the natural heritage of the Lutkemeerpolder, urban agriculture, biodiversity and the latest developments regarding Voedselpark Amsterdam.
