Morning work session at the Amstelpark Botanical Garden

The Heemtuin in Amstelpark is a unique patch of ecologically managed nature within the city, which originated from the ‘Endangered Flora’ exhibition during the 1972 Floriade. The garden consists of a series of small sections representing different parts of the Netherlands, each with its own soil type: from Groningen clay in the north to Limburg loess in the south. This results in an enormous variety of – often rare – plants and flowers within a small area. All of this is lovingly maintained by a small team of gardeners, who could do with a bit of help now and then. As well as enjoying the outdoors, you can learn a lot about ecological gardening and native flora. No gardening experience is required. We’ll meet at 10.00 am at the Glazen Huis in Amstelpark.
