Tidiness is half the battle: on worms and other oddballs, after death

On 27 October 2026, from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm, the event ‘Tidiness is key: on worms and other weirdos, after death’ will take place on the Metabolic boat. Admission is free or by voluntary donation. During the evening, we’ll explore how we, as humans, become part of the ecosystem after death and what it feels like to be prey to other animals. There will be presentations and workshops by, amongst others, Marijn Bax, Susanne Duijvestein, Thijs de Zeeuw, Hermen van de Waal and Sieto Noordhoorn. Visitors are asked to bring a plain cotton, ‘nearly-dead’ T-shirt or jumper for a workshop in which small organisms that help break down our bodies after death will be printed onto the garment.
