Waterwijs: workshop on measuring water quality

Is the water here clean enough to swim in? Why does a green film sometimes form on the water’s surface? Are you curious about how water quality is measured? Then this workshop is for you! During the ‘Waterwijs’ workshop on Thursday 6 August, you’ll discover how water quality is measured at the Marineterrein. Using simple tools and practical methods, you’ll test and observe the water yourself. You’ll learn to recognise pollution and discover how your observations can contribute to research into water quality. Not only will you gain a fresh perspective on water in the city, but you’ll also be given the tools to carry out your own research in your local area. This will give you a better understanding of water quality and make you more knowledgeable about water. In other words: water-savvy! Join us outdoors to look, measure and discover for yourself what the water can tell you. Programme: 7.30–7.45 pm – Welcome and introduction at Waag Futurelab; 7.45–8.15 pm – Nehis Osagie talks about measuring and monitoring water quality; 8.15 pm – 9.30 pm – Measuring water quality outdoors; 9.30 pm – 10.30 pm – Drinks.
