World Car-Free Day – 22 September 2026

World Car Free Day (World Carfree Day) takes place every year on 22 September. The day is used worldwide to raise awareness of sustainable mobility and to encourage people, cities and organisations to leave their cars at home for a day and opt for walking, cycling, public transport or other forms of transport. On this day, cities all over the world organise activities such as car-free streets, cycle rides, walking routes and campaigns promoting cleaner air and liveable cities. Well-known examples include cities such as Bogotá, where large car-free events take place regularly.
