De Herkomst: urban farm for circular meat
De Herkomst is an urban farm in Amsterdam-Osdorp where pigs of a traditional breed are raised on waste streams from shops, breweries, and bakeries in and around the city. The goal: to reduce food waste, make meat production more sustainable, and improve meat quality.
Why do we like it? Because they work smartly and fairly with waste streams, prioritize animal welfare, and produce locally, producing meat that has a story and makes an impact.
